Rams win Heartland Christian tourney

The Glenwood girls won the team title and East Mills’ Rachel Schafer won top individual honors at the Heartland Christian Invitational Golf Tournament last Wednesday at Fox Run Golf Course in Council Bluffs.

The Rams shot a team-round of 409 to win top honors. Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln was the runner up with a score of 438.

Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus called the tournament an “exciting” win for her team and program.

“We had very consistent scoring up and down the scorecard,” Jacobus said.  “This was a tournament we really wanted to win and had identified it at the beginning of the season as one we definitely could get, especially since we were second last year by just two strokes.  It’s nice to check off this goal on our 2018 list.”

The Wolverines’ Schafer shot 93 to edge Southwest Iowa’s Zoe Moores by three strokes in the individual standings.
