Glenwood girls headed back to state

The Glenwood girls tennis team is headed back to the Iowa State Tennis Tournament.

The Rams knocked off Denison 5-0 in the Class 1A, Region 1 final Saturday morning in Atlantic to punch their ticket to state. The state berth is the Rams’ second straight and also the second in school history.

“It’s an amazing accomplishment to reach the state tournament for the second time in a row,” said Glenwood coach Callie Ohm. “I am proud of the way the girls have put everything they have into each match they play.”
Glenwood’s Ellie Osterloh, Brooklyn Taylor, Erin Stanley, Ruby Crow and Sierra Stouder all recorded singles wins to end the team final before doubles matches.

The Rams were scheduled to play Spirit Lake/Okoboji in the Class 1A state quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Monday in Denison. Results were not available at press time.
