Controversial Horse Trainer Won't Face Neglect Charges

Rural Glenwood horse trainer Logan Allen, who created a social media firestorm last month when he posted photos on his Facebook page of some controversial training methods, will not be charged with animal neglect.

Allen, 29, a former first prize winner at the Iowa Horse Fair Colt Starting Challenge, posted three photos on his Facebook page showing a horse with its legs bound, laying on its side, while a hose sprays water on the horse’s face and body.

Two other photos show what is presumed to be the same horse under a tarp while water is sprayed on the tarp and horse.

Following an investigation by Mills County authorities, a misdemeanor citation request was sent to magistrate court judge Kenneth Whitacre, but he ruled there was no probable cause to charge Allen.

The controvsersial photos posted on Allen’s Facebook page were removed after animal rights activists began sharing the photos on social media and calling for his arrest.
