Victim, Suspect Identified In Fatal Shooting
Sunday afternoon, the Glenwood Police Department identified the victim and a suspect charged in a fatal shooting Saturday evening on the 700 block of N. Linn Street in Glenwood.
At 6:34 p.m. Saturday, police officers and Glenwood Rescue personnel responded to a report of a person down outside the Linnwood Estates assisted living facility. Upon their arrival, officers and medics found 18-year-old Kathryn Lauren Weber bleeding on the ground outside the facility where she was employed. She was unresponsive and appeared to have a gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at 6:47 p.m. by the Mills County Coroner.
At approximately 7:50 p.m., a suspect, Mark Alan Troutman, 27, of Sylvania, Ohio (shown here), was arrested without incident at the Western Inn Motel in Glenwood. He has been charged with first-degree murder, a Class A felony, and appeared in Mills County Magistrate Court Sunday morning for his initial appearance. He's being held in the Mills County Jail on $5 million bond.
Representatives of the Mills County Attorrney's Office, Glenwood Police Department and Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation released limited details of the incident at a press conference Sunday, but stressed the investigation is on-going.
