Train - Pedestrian Fatality In Malvern

MALVERN - A 20-year-old Mills County resident died at an Omaha hospital early Friday morning after being struck by a train near the Wabash Trace Trail in Malvern around 9 p.m. on Thursday.

According to a Mills County Sheriff’s Office report, the Mills County Communications Center received a report from the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe Railroad that a pedestrian lying on the tracks in Malvern had been struck by a train. Mills County deputies along with members of the Malvern Fire and Rescue unit responded.

A person was located underneath the stopped train by rescue personnel and was transported to Creighton University Medical Center. The person, identified as 20-year-old Christopher Thomas Aguirre of Malvern, was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m. on Friday.

Investigators have been unable to determine why Aguirre was lying on the tracks at the time of the mishap.

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
