Rams shoot lights-out in 82-43 win over Denison

Nate Kennedy tied a school-record with seven three-pointers and Glenwood hit a season-high 15 threes as a team in an 82-43 victory over Denison in Hawkeye 10 Conference boys basketball on Senior Night in Glenwood Saturday.

The Rams (18-2) shot 63.5 percent from the field (33-of-52), including 15-of-24 from behind the arc while eclipsing 80 points for sixth time this season.

“It was a great shooting night for us,” said Glenwood coach Curt Schulte.

Kennedy was 7-for-7 from behind the arc and made all eight of his field goal attempts for a season-high 23 points in the win.

“He shot the ball wonderful,” Schulte said of his senior forward. “I’m really proud of how he shot it and especially on senior night.”

The Rams took a 32-22 lead into halftime before exploding for 29 points in the third quarter. Glenwood out-scored the Monarchs 50-21 after halftime.

Nate Mohr added 19 and Christian Stanislav 11 for the Rams.

Glenwood closed its regular season last night at Council Bluffs Lewis Central. Results were not available at press time.

The Rams turn their sights to the post-season by hosting A-D-M (3-16) in the Class 3A, Substate 8 opener Monday. Tip-off is to follow Atlantic (11-8) vs. Denison (9-10).

“We have four teams in the top 16 in the BCMoore rankings and every game, every night is going to be tough,” Schulte said. “We’re going to take it one game at a time and survive and advance. We’re looking forward to the post-season and happy we’re at home.”

Glenwood 94,
Shenandoah 34

Zach Carr scored a career-high 20 points and Glenwood opened the game on a 24-4 run in a 94-34 victory over Shenandoah in Hawkeye 10 Conference boys basketball last Tuesday.    

The Rams (17-2 overall, 8-1 in the conference) led 30-9 after a quarter and 57-17 at the half. Their 57 first half points and 94 points were both season-highs.

“It was a great team win with 13 total players scoring,” said Glenwood coach Curt Schulte. “Offensively, we shot the ball extremely well and outrebounded the Mustangs by 29.”

As a team, Glenwood shot 59.1 percent from the field (42-of-71), including 9-of-26 from behind the arc and held a 42 to 13 rebounding edge.

Nate Mohr pitched in 15 points for Glenwood and Christian Stanislav added 11.

Kyle Cerven, Josh Lehman and Dustin Lembrick each scored seven points to lead Shenandoah.
