Rams put three on All-Hawkeye 10 soccer first team

Glenwood’s Avery Blasdel, Mia McCorkle and Kendall Bardsley all earned first team recognition on the All-Hawkeye 10 Conference Girls Soccer team released last week.

The Rams trio was joined on the first team by Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Grace Guidry, Isabella Smith, Alissa Pomrenke, Rachel Cushing, Mikayla McCart and Hadley Hill, Council Bluffs St. Albert’s Makenna Shepard, Teagan Blackburn and Ellerie Tarbox, Denison’s Alex Mohr, Harlan’s Kylee Hinz and Creston’s Kalan Bloodgood.

Mohr, who led the conference with 31 goals, and Guidry, who was second with 28 goals, were unanimous first team selections by league coaches.

Blasdel led the Rams, who finished one game short of the state tournament, with 20 goals and eight assists. She was one of only two freshman named to the first team.

McCorkle, a senior forward, scored 15 goals and added seven assists.

Bardsley was the only goalkeeper named the first team after starting every game in goal for the Rams and allowing 26 goals and posting eight shutouts this season.

Glenwood’s Nikki Schuppan, Katelyn Malcom and Catherine Millar were tabbed for the second team. Kara Schuppan, Abi Schultz and Hannah Renshaw picked up honorable mentions.
