Rams fifth at girls golf regionals

The Glenwood girls placed fifth at the Class 4A Regional Golf Meet played at Majestic Hills Golf Course in Denison last Monday.

The Rams carded a team round of 425 for their fifth place finish – 53 strokes and four places better than last year.

“This was a really good result for us,” said Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus.  “Denison’s course is very challenging and for us to have shot as well as we did is fantastic.”

Humboldt was the regional champion with a team round of 372. Carroll was the runner up with a 389. Green County’s Rachael Danielson shot a 14-over-par 85 to win top individual honors.

Garrett Reich shot a 104 to lead Glenwood. Britnee White shot a 105, Ellie Brown a 107 and Allie Hundt a 109 to complete the Rams’ scoring.

“I always hate to see the season end, but the growth and improvements we’ve made this year bode well for us next year,” Jacobus said. “The girls have already started making summer and pre-season plans for 2018 and I’m looking forward to the work ahead.”
