Glenwood girls win Tiger Relays

The Glenwood girls won eight events and ran away with the team title at the Red Oak Tiger Relays Thursday in Red Oak.

The Rams finished with 174 points in the team standings to easily out-pace runner up Creston’s 122 points. Shenandoah was third with 121 points.

In all, the Rams secured eight gold medals at the meet with a pair going to Emma Hughes, who swept both 1,500 and 3,000-meters. Hughes’ time of 11:07.11 broke her own school record.
Also winning individual golds were Elle Scarborough (100-meter dash), Abby McIntyre (800-meters) and Lauren Becker (high jump).

“Among a lot of strong performances, Abby McIntyre’s performance in the 800 was especially impressive,” said Glenwood coach Cory Faust.

Becker, in her first meet back from injury, added a second place finish in the 400-meter dash and Scarborough was third in the discus.

Glenwood also had a strong showing in the relays, winning top honors in the 4x100-meters, the 4x200-meters and the 4x800-meters.

Emily Todd, in her first time every competing in the long jump, placed fourth with a top leap of 14 feet, two inches.
