East Mills girls, boys fourth at Stanton

The East Mills girls and boys track teams both placed fourth in the standings at the Stanton Co-ed Relays Thursday.

The Sidney girls narrowly edged Griswold 112 to 111 for the team title. The Wolverines finished with 86 points for fourth. Griswold captured the boys’ crown with 154 points. The East Mills boys finished fourth with 81 points.

The Wolverine girls got individual gold medal performances from Madison Williams in the 100-meters and 200-meters, Janette Schraft in the 1,500-meters and Rachel Drake in the shot put while also capturing gold in the 4x200-meter relay.

Dylan Schroeder won the boys lone gold medal, running a 16.42 110-meter hurdles, but the Wolverines added top four finishes in nine other events.

East Mills boys coach Claude Lang like his team’s overall competitiveness in Stanton.

“I was pleased to see how well the boys competed throughout the meet,” Lang said. “Everyone earned a medal, which will help motivate some of the freshmen to know they can compete against high school opponents.”
