Sidney downs Knights to win Corner crown
Caitlyn Ward and Maddy Duncan scored 19 points each to lead Sidney to a 52-39 victory over Fremont-Mills in the Corner Conference Girls Basketball Tournament championship Friday in Tabor.
Sidney (12-4 overall, 9-0 in the conference) led 28-18 at the half before pulling away in the second half to win their third straight conference crown.
Ward grabbed eight rebounds and six steals to go with her 19 points.

Fremont-Mills picked up its fourth straight win and advanced to the Corner Conference Girls Basketball Tournament finals with a 42-37 victory over South Page last Wednesday.
The Knights (9-4 overall, 9-1 in the conference) jumped out to a 15-9 first quarter lead but didn’t pull away for good until a 12-8 third quarter run.
Clara Schaaf led the way for Fremont-Mills with 10 points. Kaylee Wright added eight points.

Clara Schaaf scored a career-high 24 points and Fremont-Mills jumped out to a 22-6 first quarter lead en route to a 65-21 victory over Heartland Christian in the Corner Conference Tournament opening round last Monday at the Lied Multipurpose Complex on the Campus of Iowa School for the Deaf.
Schaaf hit 8-of-9 her three-pointers for her new career-high. Courtney Goodman added 12 points.
