Glenwood Searching For New Library Director Following Resignation

The Glenwood Public Library is in need of a new director following the resignation of Jenny Ellis.
Glenwood Library Board member Terry Craig said Ellis resigned earlier this month during a closed-session meeting of the board. The board accepted Ellis’ resignation, but Craig said because the issue is a personnel matter addressed in closed session, circumstances surrounding the resignation would not be discussed publicly.

In July 2014, Ellis was suspended for three days by the Glenwood City Council and placed on six months probation following a closed-session meeting of the council and mayor. As part of the probation, she was required to complete a management class and mandated to use the library’s social media sites only for the purpose of promoting the library in a positive manner.

The library board is now advertising for the library director’s position and will accept applications until Aug. 19.

“We will interview until we find someone who’s the right fit for the Glenwood Public Library,” Craig said.
Until a new director is hired, Craig said library board members  will share duties in overseeing management of the library with assistance from staff members.

Craig and library board member  Margo Young expressed their appreciation for the staff’s contributions at the Glenwood City Council’s July 14 meeting.
