Ram bats go quiet in 10-0 loss to Sioux City East

Sioux City East plated four runs in the first and six more in the sixth in a 10-0 shutout of Glenwood in non-conference softball last Wednesday.

The Rams (10-4 overall, 6-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) struggled to generate much offense in just their second shutout loss of the season.

“It was a quiet night for us at the plate and two big innings for East did us in,” said Glenwood coach Tom Horton.

Jacy Embray led the Rams with two hits. Sara Ingoldsby, Molly Dean and Baily Rumery added hits.

East eighth grader Chasity Johnson tossed a six-hitter, fanning four and not walking a batter to earn the win in the circle.

Shenandoah 1

For the second straight game, Jacy Embray smacked a home run and got the win in the circle as Glenwood defeated Shenandoah 13-1 in a three-inning Hawkeye 10 Conference softball tilt last Tuesday.

The Rams jumped all over Shenandoah starter Jordan Major with five runs in the top of the first inning. Glenwood added an eight spot in the third.

Embray, Ashley Hirt, Mackenzie Richter and Myranda Starner each had two hits for Glenwood. Embray and Richter each drove in two runs.

Embray scattered three hits and fanned one in the circle to improve her record to 7-2 on the season.

Jacy Embray smacked a home run and earned the win in the circle for Glenwood in a 11-7 Hawkeye 10 Conference softball win on the road last Monday.

Embray added a double and drove in three big runs for the Rams the win. Mackenzie Richter added a double and a pair of RBIs.

Embray allowed seven hits and five earned runs before giving way to Lyndie Van Ness in the fifth inning. Van Ness pitched the final 2 2/3 innings to earn the save.

“It was a total team effort this evening,” said Glenwood coach Tom Horton. “Jacy and Lyndie did a great job in the circle for us.  The defense did a great job behind the pitchers.  Offensively, everyone stepped up and did their jobs at the plate.

“We got some timely hitting which helped us maintain our lead.  We were also able to push several runs off of some heads up base running this evening.  This was a good win for the team.”
