County Supervisors Make Auditor Selection

The Mills County Supervisors intend to appoint Ami Petersen as the new Mills County Auditor.
In a special meeting Friday, the supervisors voted to approve the hiring of Petersen, effective Aug. 1. This is the second notification the board intends to appoint a replacement for outgoing auditor Carol Robertson. Mills County voters will have two weeks to call for an election in lieu of an appointment. A petition for a special election would require 565 signatures.
Robertson announced in June she was stepping down from the position she has held for 24 years. She has worked in the auditor’s office since November 1989. She was appointed county auditor in September 1999, replacing her predecessor and boss Cheryll Ross, who left the post to take a position in the Pottawattamie County Auditor’s Office.
Petersen, who has worked in the auditor’s office a year, was Robertson’s hand-picked successor.
