Rams 2-1 at L.C.
The Glenwood wrestling team won a pair of duals and dropped at third in road quadrangular at Council Bluffs Lewis Central on Thursday.
The Rams recorded dual wins over Red Oak 47-31 and Shenandoah 75-0 before dropping a 41-37 decision to the host Titans.
“I think we wrestled pretty well for coming out of break,” said Glenwood coach Brad Asche, whose team last wrestled Dec. 20. “The kids came out and competed and looked like they were having fun. We beat a pretty good Red Oak team that’s a little bit beat up. I had them circled as a team that would be pretty good this year and they are.”
The Rams’ win over Shenandoah features nine Mustang forfeits.
“There were a lot of opens there and they’re a little banged up too but I felt like we wrestled really well in the matches we did compete in,” Asche said.
Asche said the Lewis Central loss was a tough one for his team as they continue to struggled to fill weights.
“It came down a few matches where we get caught on our backs and then we give up 12 points again (on forfeits),” Asche said. “With us losing by four that’s a hard thing to swallow but its kind of the reality for us right now.”
Dalton Bell (113 pounds), Brett Mower (182) and Noah Carter (195) all went 3-0 for Glenwood.
“I saw a lot of great things from a lot of guys that battled,” Asche said.
