Lt. Governor Takes in Town Square

Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds spent time in Glenwood Friday morning, visiting businesses around Town Square.

Her visit, hosted by the Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce, included stops at Vine Street Cellars winery, Joe Designer, Kenkel Family Chiropractic, the Gathering Place and a pair of boutiques - Mitzi Mo’s and jWren.

Reynolds said she was impressed by the appearance of Glenwood’s business district and encouraged city leaders to promote a healthy business environment.

“It’s important that we all work to make Iowa a business-friendly state,” Reynolds said. “I’m sure you’ve done some of that here with (tax) abatements and incentives.

“Make it (Glenwood) a destination spot for people. That’s what it’s all about.”

Glenwood was one of three southwest Iowa stops on Reynolds’ itinerary Friday. She also visited a new jail in Sidney and the business district in Shenandoah.

“I really look forward to meeting business owners and talking to them,” Reynolds said.

Glenwood Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Linda Washburn said the lieutenant governor’s visit was an opportunity to showcase the community.

“As always, what a privilege to showcase our community and remind ourselves how fortunate we are to have business owners who are investing in our community and putting life back into under utilized properties,” Washburn said. “We are so fortunate to have an intact town square, a crown jewel that exists today in very few Iowa communities.”
