Lorraine E. Dashner, 89, Glenwood

January 5, 1921  - August 22, 2010

    Lorraine Ellen (Young) Dashner, 89, of Glenwood, formerly of Malvern, entered into eternal rest on Aug. 22, 2010, at the Hospice With Heart House in Glenwood. Graveside services and interment will be held today, Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at 10 a.m., in the Malvern Cemetery. Rev. Carl Phillips will officiate.
    She was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Glenwood to Marlin Tillman and Nellie (Noah) Young. Lorraine received her diploma from high school on May 20, 1938. She was a semi-finalist in the Centennial Beauty Contest on Sept. 8, 1938, and for several years was a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company in Glenwood.
    She was united in marriage to Earl Estes Dashner, Jr. on Feb. 23, 1941, in Glenwood. To this union three children were born, Terry, Philip and Suellen. Lorraine greatly enjoyed her life on the farm. She had an immense talent for needlework and decorating. Lorraine enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be forever missed by her family. May she rest in peace with the Lord.
    Preceding Lorraine in death were her parents, husband, one brother and one sister. She is survived by her children, Terry L. Dashner of Chicago, Ill.; Philip L. and wife Beverly Dashner of Malvern; Suellen E. Dashner of Council Bluffs; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Marlin and wife Ruth Young, II of Nashua, N.H., extended relatives and a host of friends.
    A memorial fund has been established. Peterson Mortuary of Glenwood is in charge of arrangements.
