Knights split pair at own Tabor tournament
Less than 24 hours after defeating Stanton 6-4, the Fremont-Mills softball team opened its Tabor Tournament Saturday morning with a 10-2 victory over the Viqueens.
Kayleigh Cole had two hits and drove in three runs for the Knights (4-3 overall, 3-1 in the Corner Conference) in the opener. Delaney Langfelt doubled and drove in two runs.
Joni Laughlin earned the win in the circle, striking out three and allowing three hits.
In game two, the Knight defense struggled to contain the Sidney offense in an 11-8 setback. The Cowgirls recorded just four hits as a handful of Knight fielding miscues and 10 walks aided the Sidney effort.
Cole took the loss in the circle, allowing two hits and four earned runs in an inning of work.
Langfelt, Taryn Williams, Joni Laughlin, Tayrn Hansen and Jenna Nelson each recorded a hit for Fremont-Mills.

Stanton 4
Fremont-Mills scored five runs in the second inning on just one hit and held on late for a 6-4 win over Stanton in Corner Conference softball Friday.
The Knights smacked six hits in the win. Clara Schaaf and Delaney Langfelt each recorded two hits.
Joni Laughlin tossed a complete-game in the circle, scattering six hits and fanning six in the win.

Red Oak Tourney
The Fremont-Mills softball team went 1-2 at the Red Oak Softball Invitational May 30.
The Knights (2-2 overall, 1-0 in the Corner Conference) dropped their first two games to Riverside 14-1 and Griswold 14-1 but bounced back to drop Shenandoah 6-5 in the tournament capper.
Joni Laughlin recorded the Knights lone win, scattering 11 hits and striking out one in a victory over the Fillies.
Kynzie Fichter recorded the losses in the first two games of the tournament.
Laughlin led the Knights with four hits and three runs driven in for the tournament.
