June Gwendolyn (Campbell) Brittain, 71, Glenwood

    June Gwendolyn (Campbell) Brittain, age 71, of Glenwood, died Aug. 4, 2009 in Council Bluffs. Services were held Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Glenwood. Pastor Steve Frazee officiated. Interment will be at a later date.

    She was born June 14, 1938, in Pottawattamie County to Wilber Cleo and Elfreada Jane (Bailor) Campbell. She was employed as a registered nurse and resided in Pacific Junction from 1962-1982. She was proud of the fact that she graduated from college in 1982, which was the same year her son Marty graduated from high school. She then moved to Leavenworth for 10 years returning to Glenwood in 1992.

    Mrs. Brittain was a member of the First Baptist Church in Glenwood. She enjoyed bird watching, wild life preservation “Defenders of Wildlife,” photography, planting flowers, music, reading and especially her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

    Preceding her in death were her parents. She is survived by her children, Michelle and husband Jeff Childs of Randolph; Laura and husband Kelly Jones of Council Bluffs; Marty Brittain of Council Bluffs; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Campbell of Brooklyn, Miss.; sister, Carolyn Reid of Corning; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.

    Memorials may be made to the Waubonsie Church, First Baptist Church, Glenwood or American Cancer Society. Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
