Glenwood's Star-Spangled Sendoff
Glenwood will have the feel of the Fourth of July when bicyclists come to town this summer for the start of RAGBRAI (The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa).
“Glenwood’s Star-Spangled Sendoff” has been selected as the community’s official theme for RAGBRAI XLIV. The city will serve as the starting point for the 420-mile trek across the state of Iowa on Sunday, July 24. More than 10,000 bicyclists and visitors are expected to gather in Glenwood on Saturday, July 23, to formally kick off the festivities for the largest and oldest cross-state bicycle ride in the nation.
The “Star-Spangled Sendoff” theme was developed by Glenwood’s RAGBRAI publicity committee and the logo was created by Joe Designer owner Joe Edwards. Seven stars are incorporated into the logo, a subtle reference that Glenwood is the ride’s starting point for a record-tying seventh time.
T-shirts bearing the “Star-Spangled Sendoff” logo will be available for purchase later this spring.
