Glenwood girls run away with title

HARLAN - The Glenwood girls placed in the top two in 10 events to edge Harlan in the team standings at the Koos Relays Friday in Harlan.

The Rams finished with 126.75 points to the Cyclones’ 119. Shenandoah was a distant third with 65 points.

“The Rams had a mission in Harlan, which was to perform at a high level,” said Glenwood Coach Brad Rasmussen. “It was a night the Rams were trying to put themselves in position to possibly qualify for the Drake Relays.”

Glenwood nearly swept the field events with Linnaea Konfrst (discus), Jacy Embray (shot put) and Molly Dean (high jump) all winning gold. Courtney Magnussen, who was fourth in the 100-meter dash, placed seventh in the long jump.

Miranda Ruth won a pair of silver medals in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.
The Rams’ 4x200, 4x400 and shuttle hurdle relays all took home gold.

Glenwood first
at Clarinda Relays

The Glenwood girls won five gold medals and placed second in eight other events to cruise to the team title at the Lady Cardinal Relays in Clarinda last Tuesday.

The Rams finished with 165 teams points to runner up Creston’s 114 points.

The Rams competed well, yet we have some things to work to improve,” said Glenwood coach Brad Rasmussen. “Conditioning, starts, handoffs and being mentally ready are a few items we need to perfect. The team had some very fine performances with more to come.”

Among the finest performances was Glenwood’s strong showing in the field events with Molly Dean (high jump) and Jacy Embray (shot put) taking home gold. Linnaea Konfrst (discus) and Courtney Magnussen (long jump) also took home runner up medals.

Miranda Ruth also won an individual gold in the 100-meter hurdles.

The Rams’ relays team had a strong showing, taking home gold in the 4x200, 4x400 and shuttle hurdle relays.
