Glenwood girls defend title, boys third at co-ed cross country meet

The Glenwood girls opened the season by successfully defending their title from last season at the 44th Co-Ed Cross Country Invitational at Glenwood Lake Park Saturday.

The Rams girls pulled off a narrow, 40 to 41 victory over Harlan in the team standings to repeat as team champions behind a first place individual finish by Janette Schraft. Schraft, who recently joined the team after running at East Mills the previous two seasons, finished with a time of 18:57. Her time was more than 40 seconds better than runner up Taylor McCreedy of Atlantic.

Joining Schraft with top finishes were Aubrey McIntyre (fourth) ad Abby McIntyre (fifth).

Erin Schultz added a 14th place showing and Abi Schultz a 16th place finish to complete the Rams’ scoring.

On the boys sides, Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson had top three individual placewinners, led by champion Aidan Booton, to win the team title.

Council Bluffs Lewis Central was second with 65 points and Glenwood was third with 73.

Sam McIntyre led the Rams with a seventh place finish time of 18:04.15. Parson Covington (eighth), Mason Parks (13th), Tyler Huey (14th) and Nathan Rohrberg (32nd) rounded out the Rams’ scoring.
