Fremont-Mills girls win own Relays, boys third

The Fremont-Mills girls and boys track teams had strong showings at its own Knight Co-ed Invitational last Tuesday in Tabor.

The Fremont-Mills girls won eight events and wrapped up the team title with 162 points. Southwest Valley was a distant second with 110 points followed by East Mills and Sidney, who tied for third in the girls team standings with 80 points.

The Knight boys team was third with 95 points. Sidney was the boys champion with 110 points. Glenwood was fourth with 83 points and East Mills was fifth with 71.

On the girls side, the Knights cleaned up in the field events with Sophie Phillips sweeping the shot and the discus, Bailey Hauschild winning the high jump and Clara Schaaf placing second in the long jump.

Hauschild added a gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles and Schaaf a gold in the 400-meter hurdles. The duo also helped the Knights to gold in the shuttle hurdle relay.

East Mills won four events in Tabor. Janette Schraft won the 100 and 200-meters, Emma Seipold won the 800 and Jami Oyster the 3,000-meters.

The Wolverines also took home top honors in the distance medley relay.

The Fremont-Mills boys took home gold in the shot (Conner Alley), the 4x800-meter and shuttle hurdle relays.

East Mills’ Chris Darnold won gold in the high jump and Dylan Schroeder in the long jump to cap a strong field day for the Wolverines.

Schroeder added a second place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

Glenwood’s top finish came in the 4x400-meter relay team’s second place time of 3:52.87.

The Rams added  third place individual finishes from Jacob Case in the 400-meters, Adison Presley in the 1,600-meters, Brenden Godbout in the 400-meter hurdles and its shuttle hurldle and 4x800-meter relay teams.
