Crouse leads East Mills to 59-38 win

Mason Crouse continued his offensive surge with a career-high 30 point night in East Mills’ 59-38 win over Griswold in Corner Conference boys basketball Friday.

The Wolverines (5-1 overall, 2-0 in the conference) didn’t blister the nets with their shooting overall, finishing 24-of-55 from the field (43.6 percent), but Crouse was 12-of-20 from the field, including 3-of-7 from behind the arc, on his career-night.

East Mills led 32-20 at the half but Griswold’s three-point shooting (10-of-21) kept them within striking distance until the fourth quarter. The Wolverines out-scored them 16-8 in the final frame.

Braeden Fustos chipped in 10 points off the bench for East Mills.

Adam Houser hit 5-of-8 three-pointers to score 15 points to lead the Tigers.

Mason Crouse led three players in double-figures as East Mills rolled to a 56-22 victory over Heartland Christian last Tuesday.

The Wolverines didn’t shoot it well – 31 percent for the game – but held the Eagles to 23.5 percent shooting while forcing 26 turnovers.

“Offensively, we did struggle shooting for the entire game,” said East Mills coach Kevin Schafer. “Luckily we held them down and got some easy transition buckets.  We’re going to have to improve offensively if we want to compete for a conference title.”

Crouse scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Jerett Jentzsch added 14 points and nine rebounds and Nolan Smiley had 10 points.

Heartland Christian was led by Colton Brennen’s eight points.
