Bluejays sweep Wolverines

    Villisca swept East Mills 25-21, 25-19, 25-13 in Corner Conference volleyball on Thursday.
    “The first two games were neck and neck before Villisca pulled away the last four or five points,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner-Blank. “We have to minimize mistakes late in the game.”
    The Wolverines (1-7 overall, 0-3 in the conference) were led by Amanda Bazer's seven kills. Jessika Lynn added three kills and seven digs and Zoe Frink had three kills and four digs.

East Mills  25-8-13-17
    After surprising Stanton with a 25-19 first game win the East Mills volleyball team couldn't hold on to the momentum in a 19-25, 25-8, 25-13, 25-17 loss to the Vikings last Tuesday.
    “We lost our focus,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner-Blank. “Our serve receive struggled, but the girls played hard, stayed positive, and played as a team.  We will keep improving.”
    Amanda Bazer had nine kills and two blocks for the Wolverines.
    Zoe Frink had 10 assists and Jordan Jennings eight.
    Kelsey Croghan had 10 digs and Kendra Croghan had 13 digs.

East Mills 0-4 at
Clarinda Tourney
    The East Mills volleyball team went 0-4 at the Clarinda Tournament on Sept. 3.
    The Wolverines were knocked off by Treynor 21-10, 21-16, Villisca  21-13, 21-18, 15-11, Shenandoah 21-15, 21-19 and Nishnabotna 25-22, 28-26.
    “We are headed in the right direction and are competitive,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner-Blank. “We need to be more aggressive serving and at the net and find that push to finish.”
    Amanda Bazer led the Wolverines with 20 kills in the four matches.
    Zoe Frink had 20 assists and Jordan Jennings 18 assists.
