Wolverines go 1-3 at Bedford Tournament

    The East Mills volleyball team went 1-3 at the Bedford Tournament on Saturday.
    The Wolverines lost their first three matches to the host Bulldogs 21-7, 21-15, Villisca 21-15, 21-14 and Lamoni 9-21, 21-14, 8-15 before defeating Walnut 21-13, 12-21, 15-11 in the tournament capper.

    “We came out with a lot of enthusiasm and played our best match of the day,” said Connie Viner-Blank of her team’s lone win at Bedford.
    Amanda Bazer led the Wolverines with 27 kills in the four matches combined.
    Jordan Jennings had 25 assists on the day.

West Harrison 25-25-25
East Mills 27-21-12
    East Mills struggled with hitting errors as West Harrison came back to defeat the Wolverines 25-27, 25-21, 25-12 in the a non-conference match up last Thursday.
    “This was a disappointing loss,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner Blank.  “We were up 11-2 in the third game when we let up and lost our focus.”
    The Wolverines had 30 hitting errors in the loss.

    Amanda Bazer led the Wolverines with seven kills and served 16-of-16 with four aces.

Heartland Christian 12-15
    East Mills defeated Heartland Christian 25-12, 25-15 in non-conference volleyball action on Thursday.
    Amanda Bazer recorded four kills for the Wolverines and Zoe Frink added six assists.
    Jordan Jennings served 14-of-14 with five aces.

East Mills 22-25-25-24-15
F-M 25-13-21-26-12
    The East Mills volleyball team edged rival Fremont-Mills 22-25, 25-13, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12 in Corner Conference volleyball last Tuesday.
    “This was a very exciting match and a great win for us,” said East Mills coach Connie Viner-Blank. “We played with a lot of enthusiasm, served aggressively, and attacked the ball well.”
    The Wolverines (5-15 overall, 2-4 in the conference) were led by Amanda Bazer with 22 kills. Zoe Frink had six kills and 18 assists.
    Kendra Croghan had 19 digs and Jordan Jennings had 17 assists and served 20-of-22 with three aces.
