Wolverines fifth at Shen tournament

The East Mills wrestling team had four individual champions and placed fifth at the Mustang Tournament in Shenandoah Saturday.

Savannah, Mo. won the team title with 177 points. Atlantic was the runner upwith 144.5.
The Wolverines finished with 112.5 points for fifth.

Ryan Stortenbecker (145 pounds), Tyler Prokop (138), Jackson Wray (160) and Jack Anderson (285) all had strong days for the Wolverines, winning their weight classes.

Stortenbecker was 5-0 on the day and capped his championship with a 9-1 major decision win over Council Bluffs St. Albert’s David Helton.

Prokop recorded five pins on his day, his final coming over Savannah’s Lincoln LaFave in the finals.

Wray notched his title with a technical fall win over Robert Ragland of Savannah in the finals.
Anderson was 2-0 on the day and pinned Savannah’s Preston Larkin in the finals.

East Mills’ Brody Wray (132 pounds) added a fourth place finish and Connor Gray (152) placed sixth and Wyatt Franks (160) fifth/

Wolverines
split double dual

The East Mills wrestling team split a pair of duals with Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and Pleasantville last Tuesday in Adair.

The Wolverines won 36-33 over hosts AC/GC and dropped a 42-27 decision to Pleasantville.
Brody Wray (132 pounds), Ryan Stortenbecker (145) and Jackson Wray (170) each won two matches at the double dual.
