William R. Hendrix, 93, Glenwood

    William R. “Bill” Hendrix, age 93, of Glenwood, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving wife and children at his home in Glenwood, on May 30, 2010.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood, Pastor Evan Welcher officiating. Interment was at the Glenwood Cemetery.

    He was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Brunswick, Mo., to Elisha C. and Orpha A. (Hazlett) Hendrix. He was united in marriage to Stella Pauline Wood on Jan. 21, 1939, in Princeton, Mo. To this union five children were born, Larry, Gary, Linda, Janice and Harold.

    Bill was a farmer and later was a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, and gardening, planting watermelons, strawberries and numerous vegetables. He dearly loved his family and was happily married to Stella for 71 1/2 years.

    Preceding Bill in death were his parents and five siblings, Ruby, Chet, Jessie, Ed and Jim. He is survived by his wife, Stella Hendrix of Glenwood: children, Larry and wife Marilyn Hendrix of Overland Park, Kan.; Gary Hendrix of Glenwood: Linda and husband Norman Burson of Dallas, Ore.; Janice and husband Fred James of Council Bluffs; Harold and wife Joani Hendrix of Emerson: nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brother, Oliver and wife Betty Hendrix of Dearborn, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
