Trump, Clinton Win Mills County Caucus Vote

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz claimed victory in Monday’s Iowa Republican Caucuses, but  billionaire Donald Trump finished on top in Mills County.

Trump tallied 27 percent of the  Republican vote in Mills County.  Florida Sen. Marco Rubio was the runner-up with 24 percent, followed by Cruz with 22. Dr. Ben Carson garnered 16 percent of the Mills County vote to finish a distant fourth.
In the statewide results, Cruz finished first with 28 percent, followed by Trump with 24 and Rubio with 23. No other Republican candidates reached the double digit mark.

In the Democratic Party, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed a narrow victory over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in Mills County. Clinton finished the night with 51 percent of the county vote, holding off Sanders who tallied 49 percent.

Statewide, the results were even closer. It took until Tuesday morning for the Iowa Democratic Party to declare Clinton the winner by a razor thin 49.9 - 49.6 percent margin.
