Wolverines punch ticket to state in 4x200-meter relay

East Mills’ Jackson Embree passes the baton to Jiri Brodigan. Embree and Brodigan, along with Cooper Stearns and Walter Seipold punched their ticket to the 4x200-meter relay at the Griswold state qualifier meet.
The East Mills boys won the 4x200-meter at the Class 1A State Qualifying meet in Griswold Thursday.
The quartet of Jackson Embree, Cooper Stearns, Jiri Brodigan and Walter Seipold ran a 1:33.36 to top the field as the Wolverines’ lone state qualifiers on the boys and girls teams.
Riverside captured both the boys (143 points) and girls (169) team titles in Griswold. In Class 1A, event winners at each of the 10 qualifying meets earn automatic berths with the next 14 best performances statewide earning at-large bids.
The Iowa State Track and Field Meet commences Thursday at Drake University. Class 1A events opening the afternoon session at 2:40 p.m.
