Knights win eight events at Fillie Relays

Carlie Chambers won one of Fremont-Mills’ eight gold medals at Shenandoah. The senior topped the field with a leap of 5-feet.

Fremont-Mills captured eight gold medals to run away with the team title at the Fillie Relays in Shenandoah Thursday.

The Knights won the meet with 129 points. The host Fillies were the runner up with 106 points.

“Everyone performed well,” said Fremont-Mills coach Kyler Fichter. “Some different kids got to do some new events and did extremely well. The relays that we put together did well overall. The kids are doing everything we ask of them and setting themselves up for later in the season.”

Lana Alley (200-meters), Bella Gute (400-meter hurdles), Carlie Chambers (high jump) and Hayleigh Mattox (discus) all won individual gold medals and the Knights added relays wins in the sprint medley, 4x100, 4x200 and shuttle hurdle.

Alley had a hand in four gold medals, running legs on the 4x100, 4x200 and shuttle hurdle relays.

East Mills was fifth in Shenandoah with 59 points.

Caitlyn Crouse picked up a pair of second place medals in the 1,500 and 3,000-meters and Cloe Brown was second in the high jump and the 400-meters.
