Richard Arlan Erb, age 71, of Emerson

    Richard Arlan Erb, age 71, of Emerson, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at the Emerson United Methodist Church with Rev. Marion Sindt officiating.  Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery.

    He was born Aug. 27, 1937, near Woodburn, the son of Harrison and Darlean (Smith) Erb.  He attended country school at “Sprout” and grade school in Cambria.  He later graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1955.  

    Mr. Erb was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marcena Reed. Survivors include his wife Jene Erb of Emerson; children, Rich Erb and wife Linda of Beatrice, Neb.; and Chris Erb of St. Joseph, Mo.; three grandchildren; brother Chuck Erb of Carlisle; sisters Joan Tuttle of Cambria; Carolyn Hockensmith of Des Moines; Joyce Dainty of Carlisle; Deanna Slagg of Humeston; and Tammy Clark of Afton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

    Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
