Rams’ depth comes up big at own Relays
The Glenwood girls won just two events at it’s own Ram Relays Thursday.
And they still won the meet in a crowded field of top teams in southwest Iowa.
“It was just another great team effort,” said Glenwood coach Cory Faust. “The girls are doing a good job of controlling their attitude, effort, and preparation, and we have some upperclassmen who really set the tone well with their leadership.”
Leading the way for the Rams was Audrey Arnold, whose time of 16.50 won her a gold medal at the relays. The distance medley relay team of Grace Presley, Bailey Ostrander, Danielle Hardcastle and Abby McIntyre ran a season-best time of 4:31.86. for the Rams’ other gold.
Glenwood’s 4x100-meter, 4x200 and sprint medley relays all ran season-best times and rank in or near the top 10 in class 3A this year. Jaeda Wilson was among many girls who ran their best splits of the season in three of those relays.
Emma Hughes was second in the 3,000-meters but broke her own school record and then added a third place showing in the 800.

Rams win LC Invite
The Glenwood girls track team used its depth in multiple events to lap the field at the Council Bluffs Lewis Central Invitational Track Meet Tuesday at Titan Stadium in Council Bluffs.
The Rams won two events but placed in the top three in eight others to rack up 134.5 points. Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln was second with 113 points.
“Several individuals and relays ran season’s bests and our team depth again showed,” said Glenwood coach Cory Faust. “In a very competitive meet, the girls scored in every event except the shuttle hurdle relay, which was disqualified during a second place run. In seven of the 12 individual events, we had two girls place in the top eight and score team points.”
The Rams’ 4x800-meter relay team of Abby McIntyre, Danielle Hardcastle, Kate Kaufman and Emma Hughes won gold in a time of 10:17.51, which was 21 seconds better than runner up Creston.
Glenwood added a top finish in the 4x200-meter relay. Sadey Allgood, Devon Bomer, Jaeda Wilson and Elle Scarborough’s time of 1:51.76 bested the Treynor quartet by two seconds.
Taking home runner up finishes were Audrey Arnold (100-meter hurdles), Lauren Becker (400-meter hurdles) and Emma Hughes (1,500-meters).
“While it’s nice to win meets, and I’m very proud of this group’s attitude, effort, and performance, we have to keep focus on the bigger goals at the end of the season,” Faust said.
The East Mills girls placed ninth at the Lewis Central meet with Janette Schraft earning a trio of top finishes in the 400-meters, 1,500-meters and 3,000-meters.
