Ram tennis tops LC, improves to 7-0

The Glenwood girls tennis team knocked off previously unbeaten Council Bluffs Lewis Central and ran its record to 7-0 on the season in an 8-1 Hawkeye 10 Conference victory Friday.

The Rams’ suffered just one loss in the singles portion of the dual with Ellie Osterloh, Brooklyn Taylor, Ruby Crow, Brielle Smith and Sierra Stouder all posting victories. Glenwood then went on to sweep the doubles matches, out-scoring the Titans 24-9 in the process.

Glenwood lost three games in a 9-0 sweep of Harlan in girls Hawkeye 10 Conference tennis last Tuesday.

The Rams Brooklyn Taylor, Ruby Crow, Brielle Smith and Sierra Stouder all posted 8-0 shutouts in the singles wins. Erin Stanley and Ellie Osterloh posted two more singles wins by a score of 8-1 each.

Red Oak 3

After splitting the singles matches 3-3, the Glenwood girls tennis team bounced back to sweep the doubles matches in a 6-3 victory over Red Oak last Monday.

Ellie Osterloh opened the dual with 9-7 win over Macy Baker in the No. 1 singles before Red Oak rattled off three straight singles wins. The Rams’ Brielle Smith and Sierra Stouder combined to win the final two singles matches 16-1.

Brooklyn Taylor and Erin Stanley got up 4-1 in their No. 1 doubles match before Red Oak’s Baker and Sophie Walker battled back to win the next six games and take a 7-4 lead. But Taylor and Stanley fought back, tied it at 7-7 and then went on to with 9-7.

The doubles teams of Osterloh and Ruby Crow and Smith and Stouder won both their matches in convincing fashion, 8-3 and 8-1, respectively.
