Ram harriers earn post-season awards

    The Glenwood boys cross country team wrapped up its undefeated season with its annual team banquet last week. In addition to the several individual awards presented the cross country team earned the Distinguished Academic Award from the Iowa High School Athletic Association for having a team grade point average of 3.33.
    Glenwood coach Todd Peverill was selected as At-Large 3-A Coach of the Year for the 2010 season. Peverill is a three time winner of the coach of the year award.
    Among those earning individual awards were Johnny Fuller. The Class 3A state champion and Notre Dame track and cross country recruit, was named first team all-state, elite all-state (top seven times all class at state meet), first team all- district and conference, academic all-state, Hawkeye 10 All-academic, all Southwest Iowa. Fuller also won the team's Harold Peterson Award and the senior MVP award.
    Mark Abrams earned first team all-conference, district and southwest Iowa honors and was named the team's junior MVP.
    Kyle Wheeler was all district, first team all-conference and was named to the Hawkeye 10 all-academic and all Southwest Iowa teams.
    Jordan Krug was tabbed as first team all-conference and a member of the all-Southwest Iowa team.
    Team managers Aly Goos and Derrin Williams were named to the Hawkeye 10 All-Academic team.
    Jeff Reeve was the sophomore MVP and Payton Kalambokidis the freshman MVP in team awards.
     Emil Bulut was named the most improved senior while Connor Houser was the most improved junior, Rob Farley the most improved sophomore and Kory Gray the most improved freshman.
