Patricia Joan Lipsett, age 77, of Glenwood

    Patricia Joan Lipsett, age 77, of Glenwood, died Sept. 9, 2009, at her home in Glenwood. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at First Christian Church in Glenwood. Pastor Darrell Hopp officiated. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

    She was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Colfax, to Rev. Jacob Warren and Mary Wilhelmina (Heer) Taenzler. She graduated from Glenwood High School with the Class of 1950 and earned a teaching degree from Drake University in 1952. She taught elementary school both in Pacific Junction and Glenwood. She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Lipsett on March 12, 1952, at the First Christian Church where she remained the pianist and organist for over 60 years. The couple raised their four children, Joe, Carol, Laura and Ed in Glenwood.

    Mrs. Lipsett enjoyed her family immensely, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended as many of their events as possible. She was a sports enthusiast and was especially fond of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Music brought her great joy as she shared her talent with those around her. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

    Preceding Mrs. Lipsett in death were her parents and husband Richard in 1992. She is survived by her children, Joe and wife Lori Lipsett of; Carol Fisher; Laura Lipsett Long and husband Wayne Long of Columbus, Ohio; Ed and wife Rachel Lipsett of Olathe, Kan.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis Harold; Jake Taenzler; Bob Taenzler; Betty Smith; and Mary Potts all of Glenwood; Margaret Hart of Atlantic; Julie Schneckloth of Bellevue, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.

    Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Glenwood Public Library. Peterson Mortuary of Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
