Joel T. Peck, 33, Glenwood
Joel Thomas Peck, age 33, of Glenwood, formerly of Lincoln, Neb., died July 19, 2009, in his home after a long battle with cancer. Services were held Monday, July 27, 2009, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, Neb., at a later date.
He was born Oct. 4, 1975, in Cambridge, Neb. to Thomas and Janis A. (Akeson) Peck. He graduated with the Class of 1994 from Northeast High School in Lincoln and earned a B.S. degree in 1998 from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
Mr. Peck was united in marriage to Jennifer Kathleen Johnson on Aug. 7, 1999, in Lincoln. To this union three children were born, Keally and twins, Sydney and Emily. Mr. Peck was a police officer for the Council Bluffs Police Department for eight years, enlisted in the Army ROTC program from 1994-98 and was in the IRR for two years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood and the Fraternal Order of Police, Council Bluffs No. 1. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working in the yard, Nebraska football and especially loved playing with his girls.
Preceding him in death was his father, Thomas D. Peck; grandparents, Thomas G. and Opal Peck and Hans and Edna Akeson. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Peck; daughters, Keally, Sydney and Emily Peck all of Glenwood; mother, Janis Peck of Lincoln; brother, Stephen Peck of Fremont, Neb.; sisters, Kristine Sandall of Blaire, Neb.; and Karen Maas of Berlin, Wis.; three nieces; four nephews; many family members who assisted in his care, and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to the education fund for Keally, Sydney and Emily.
