Whereabouts Of Man Who Initiated P.J. Standoff Unknown

PACIFIC JUNCTION - As of Tuesday morning, law enforcement officials had not located a man who initiated a nearly seven-hour standoff situation in Pacific Junction Thursday, April 28.

Mills County Sheriff’s deputies and law enforcement officers from several southwest Iowa agencies, including the Iowa State Patrol and sheriff’s deputies from Pottawattamie, Fremont and Montgomery counties, converged on the 400 block of Washington Street in Pacific Junction after a woman reported receiving suicidal text and social media messages from her boyfriend, who she believed was alone in her home. The boyfriend allegedly said he would fire his weapon at any law enforcement officers who approached the house.

Mills County Sheriff Eugene Goos said a K-9 law enforcement dog and robot were eventually sent into the house and determined the structure was unoccupied. Several officers on the scene were wearing tactical gear during the incident.

Authorities have not released the name of the man responsible for the incident.
