Carla J. Wiegman, 57, Henderson

Carla Jane Wiegman, age 57, of Henderson, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Hastings. Rev. Marion G. Sindt officiated. Interment was in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in rural Hastings.

One of three daughters of Wilmer Arnold and Velva Loraine (Lundquist) Allison, she was born on April 27, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo. Her childhood was spent in Trimble, Mo., where she attended grade school. She went to junior high and senior high school in Plattsburg, Mo. and graduated in 1969. After high school, she attended college at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, graduating with a degree in elementary education in May 1973. She met her husband, Larry Dean Wiegman of Henderson, while attending college. They were married on Sept. 22, 1973, and have resided on the family farm since that time. Mrs. Wiegman taught elementary classes at Nishna Valley School until the arrival of her children, Adam Lynn and Allyson Grayce. After a break of several years, she returned to teaching, specializing in early childhood development. She taught Head Start in Macedonia, and later was instrumental in starting a pre-school program in conjunction with the Nishna Valley School, where she continued to teach until Thanksgiving of 2008.

Mrs. Wiegman was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting angels, crocheting, flower gardening, and reading.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilmer A. Allison. She is survived by her husband, Larry Wiegman, of Henderson; her son, Adam Wiegman of Elkhorn, Neb.; her daughter, Allyson Wiegman of Henderson; mother, Velva L. Allison of St. Joseph, Mo.; sisters, Rebecca S. Allison of St. Joseph; and Lesa J. Allison of Trenton, Mo. She is also survived by aunts, an uncle, numerous cousins and many friends.

Memorials suggested to: Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church or Nebraska Methodist Hospital for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home of Malvern was in charge of arrangements.
