James C. Keightley, 65, Thurman

James “Jim” Clifford Keightley, age 65, of Thurman, formerly of Glenwood, died Jan. 4, 2009, in Hamburg. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Pastor Gary Moles officiated. Interment was in the Thurman Cemetery.

Mr. Keightley was born Dec. 30, 1943, in Mills County to William Henry and Clara Una (McCrary) Keightley. He was raised in Mills County and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1962. He faithfully served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-68.

He was united in marriage to Tamara Dee Ross on July 15, 1981, in Plattsmouth, Neb. They enjoyed spending time together and loved to go on road trips. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an operating engineer in the construction business. He was a car fanatic. He loved to work on any type of automobile. Being a member of the Glenwood Tractor Club and Tabor V.F.W. gave him great pleasure. He was also a member of the Thurman City Council and would help make improvements in any way possible. He was the type of person that always had time to visit with family and friends. His canine companions, Petey and Daisy were never far from his side. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding Mr. Keightley in death were his parents; brothers, Charles and William Keightley; and sister Nadine Doiel. He is survived by his wife Tami Keightley of Thurman; brother, Joe Keightley of Glenwood; sister, Cathy Vanatta of St. Paul, Minn.; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
