Knights roll over Farragut, 61-29

Lauren Allen scored 21 points and Jessica Donahue 12 as the Fremont-Mills girls basketball team handed Farragut a 61-29 Corner Conference loss on Saturday.

The Knights led 35-11 at the half and the Admirals never got closer than 20 points in the second half.

Fremont-Mills forced 38 turnovers in the win and held the Admirals to 36 percent shooting.

Sidney 44,

Fremont-Mills 37

The Sidney girls basketball team outlasted Fremont-Mills in a 44-37 Corner Conference victory on Friday.

The Knights were led by Lauren Alley with 10 points and Jessica Donahue with nine.

Treynor 77,

East Mills 14

The East Mills basketball girls struggled to get its offense going against a smothering Treynor defense in a 77-14 non-conference loss on Thursday.

Jensen Duysen’s eight points and six rebounds led the Wolverines.

Fremont-Mills 66,

East Mills 42

Fremont-Mills built a 33-22 halftime lead and never looked back in a 66-42 victory over the East Mills girls basketball team last Tuesday.

The Wolverines (0-4 overall, 0-1 in the Corner Conference) turned the ball over 36 times, compared to the Knights’ four turnovers, and shot just 39.1 percent from the field (18-of-46). Despite his team’s struggles, East Mills coach Brian Bertini thought his team played as well as they have all season.

“We had our best effort and most consistency tonight,” said Bertini. “We made better decisions and reacted better in transition, and I saw our team put some real good minutes together against a good ballclub. As we continue to gain experience, that consistency will improve and we’ll find ourselves being competitive all the way to the end of the game.”

Katie Fritz and Gabbi Sowers each scored 10 points to lead East Mills. Jensen Duysen added eight points and 13 rebounds.

Jessica Donahue and Lauren Alley each scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Fremont-Mills.
