Harold D. Scott, 88, Omaha

    Harold D. Scott, 88, of Omaha, Neb., passed away Nov. 23, 2011, in Omaha. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Rev. Ron Wymer officiated. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Nebraska Christian College in Papillion, Neb.
    Harold was born July 30, 1923, in Wray, Colo. He was the son of the late Roy A. and Gertrude I. (Harold) Scott.  Harold was a graduate of Pacific Junction High School. At 19 years of age, he married Virginia Rose Mayberry Aug. 2, 1942. He proudly served in the United States Army and participated in the 83rd Infantry Division “Thunderbolt Across Europe” campaign. Harold developed a career as a purchasing agent in the insurance, meatpacking and outerwear manufacturing industries. The latter involved the development of procedures and contracts for procurement in the Far East. He was a past-president of the Omaha Purchasing Association.
    Harold was active in the Christian Church, having served congregations in a leadership capacity in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. He most recently was a member of the Wildewood Christian Church in Papillion, Neb. He has been a member of the Woodmen Lodge (Omaha 16) and was a member of the Sertoma Club of Sioux City.
    Harold was a man of impeccable honesty and integrity. His objectivity, capacity for meticulous detail, and analytical mindset served him well on his career path. He inculcated a strong moral compass for his children to follow. By his example and consistency, he taught his children how to be good spouses, good parents and sensitive, caring members of society. He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Rose (Mayberry) Scott and his sister, Lois Roberta Albrecht.
    He is survived by his children Thomas L. (Carol) Scott of Grayson, Ky.; Susan B. (Dean) Hokanson of Omaha; James K. (Jane) Scott of Columbia, Mo.; and George W. Scott of Omaha. He is the proud grandfather of Amy (Mike) Magruder, Dean T. (Missy) Hokanson, III; Brian H. (Anna) Scott, Beau Hokanson, Tyler G. (Jenny) Scott, Jeremy T. Scott, Josh (Julie) Scott, Katie (Fred) Wolfmeyer and five great-grandchildren.
