Mills County Has 21st COVID-related Death

Mills County Public Health Public Health and Mills County Emergency Management reported the 21st death in Mills County associated with COVID-19.

“The individual died this week from complications associated with the virus,” a county press release stated. “The individual was in the 41-60 range and passed away in the hospital setting. To protect the family’s privacy, no further information will be released.”

Mills County had 13 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed over the past week, bringing the total to 1,587 over the past year. The county’s current 14-day positivity rate is 7.7 percent.

As of Tuesday morning, 8,390 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in Mills County.

MCPH is continuing to have weekly Moderna vaccine clinics at the former Shopko building in Glenwood. Citizens can sign up for a vaccination using the online scheduler on the MCPH Facebook page or at www.millscountyiowa.gov. Vaccines are readily available to all residents and there is no waitlist. Mills County residents are encouraged to call MCPH at 712-527-9699 with vaccine questions.

Vaccinations are also being administered at Kohll’s Pharmacy in Malvern and Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Glenwood.
