Michael J. Cole, 20, Gresham, Neb.,

    Michael J. Cole, age 20, of Gresham, Neb., died Sunday, July 26, 2009, following a vehicle accident. Combined funeral services were held Friday, July 31, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverends Art Phillips and Lowell Meyers officiating. Burial was in Seward Cemetery, Seward, Neb.

    He was born February 11, 1989, in Cody, Wyo., to Michael Arkel and Becky Cole. Mr. Cole was a 2007 graduate of Lincoln Northstar High School and attended one year of college. He was a management trainee at Subway in York, Neb., and was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying football and baseball.

    Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Ron Cole and Joseph Arkel; and cousins, Thomas and Chelsea Ihde. He is survived by his mother Becky Cole of York; father Michael Arkel of Benedict, Neb.; brothers, Zachary Cole of Lincoln, Neb.; Joey Arkel of Benedict; sisters, Kaylei Denison of Lincoln and Jenna Arkel of Benedict; cousin Matthw Ihde; step-mother Brenda Arkel of Benedict; grandparents Leora (Cole) and Doug Fort of Glenwood; grandmother Virginia Arkel of Seward, Neb.; great-grandmothers, Argie Cole of Henderson; Mildred Meyers of Garland, Neb.; and Della Fort of Round Lake Beach, Ill. Also surviving are his foster-parents Kenn and Karen Miller of Lincoln; foster brothers Kyle and Kolin Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins

    A memorial fund has been established at TierOne Bank in Glenwood.
