Knights blank Wolverines, 11-0

TABOR - Izzy Weldon, Kennedy Lamkins and Lily Crom each had two hits and Malea Moore struck out eight and did not allow a hit in Fremont-Mills’ 11-0, four-inning victory over East Mills in Corner Conference softball Friday in Tabor.

The Knights (4-8 overall, 1-3 in the conference) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning and were in control throughout.

“We were trying to be aggressive,” said Fremont-Mills coach Kyle Fichter. “The bunt worked for us tonight. We’ve been focusing on that this year but we’ve been inconsistent so it was good to see us hit it a little.”

Fremont-Mills finished with nine hits.

Lamkins doubled and drove in three runs and Weldon drove in another.

Moore threw just 57 pitches in her five innings to earn the win. The junior fanned eight and did not walk a batter.

Fichter said Moore did a good job of throwing strikes and trusting her defense.

“Malea, and Taylor (Morgan) have done a great job not wasting pitches and the defense has finally come around and we’re not giving five or six errors every game like we had been doing at the start of the year,” Ficther said. “I think we’ve figured out that games are lot more fun if we get everybody involved and let the pitchers let the defense play.”

Fremont-Mills 0

West Harrison’s Emily McIntosh allowed just two hits and struck out 13 in a 3-0 win over Fremont-Mills in non-conference softball Thursday.

Chloe Johnson, Malea Moore and Lily Crom had one hit each for the Knights.

Taylor Morgan took the tough luck loss in the circle. The senior allowed five hits, one earned run and struck out four in a complete-game.

Lenox 15,
East Mills 0

Lenox exploded for 11 first inning runs and cruised to a 15-0, three-inning victory over East Mills in non-conference softball Wednesday.

Cadence Douglas had two hits and an RBI and Sadie Cox smacked a three-run home run for Lenox.

T.J. Stoakes allowed just one hit and struck out four in three innings of work to earn the win in the circle.

Fremont-Mills 10,
Shenandoah 0

Fremont-Mills smacked 12 hits in a 10-0 shutout victory over Shenandoah last Tuesday.

The Knights got a 4-for-4, three RBI night from Chloe Johnson and two hits each from Tori Kilpatrick and Addi Meese in the win.

Malea Moore struck out eight and allowed two singles in the complete-game victory.

Stanton 15,
East Mills 1

Tara Peterson had two hits and drove in two runs to lead Stanton in a 15-1, four-inning win over East Mills in Corner Conference softball last Monday.

Mia Goodman had two hits and Miah Urban and Nadie Gray each added two hits for East Mills.

Urban allowed two hits and five earned runs to take the loss in the circle.

Kaitlyn Bruce scattered four hits and did not allow an earned run in the win.

Fremont-Mills 2

Griswold plated three runs in the seventh and held Fremont-Mills scoreless in the bottom of the frame in a 5-2 victory last Monday.

Karly Millikan picked up the win in the circle after fanning eight and scattering five hits.

Taylor Morgan was credited with the loss after allowing eight hits and two earned runs while striking out six.

Tori Kilpatrick led the Knights at the plate with two hits.
