Joyce W. Hanes, age 70, of Carrollton, Texas

Joyce W. Hanes, age 70, of Carrollton, Texas, died Oct. 24, 2009, after a battle with cancer. The memorial service to celebrate her life is to be held Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 2 p.m. at King of Glory Lutheran Church. The entombment will be at the Columbarium there.

    She was born Feb. 6, 1939, on a farm near Mineola.  She was married for 48 years to John Hanes and resided in Carrollton, Texas, prior to The Madison Home on Marsh.  Her career began as a flight attendant for Braniff International Airways and she retired after 20 years of serving the children and families at Good Shepherd Episcopal School. Mrs. Hanes had a passion for life and enjoyed gardening and people.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Herbert Wasserman, sister Roberta Beck, and her daughter Amy Hanes. She is survived by her husband John Hanes of Carrollton; son Kyle Hanes of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; two nephews; one niece; one aunt; and countless other family members, friends and neighbors who have been such a blessing.
