Glenwood girls crush Corning

    The Glenwood girls tennis team crushed Corning 9-0 in a non-conference dual last Thursday. Both Shelby Cronk and Rachel Tucker controlled their matches for Glenwood by only allowing their opponents two games each.  

    Marely Chavez crushed Audra Bartenhagen 8-0 in their No. 6 match and Abbe Stipe came back after a tough loss  against Shenandoah to beat Adalina Moreles 8-4.  
    “Abbe did a great job of keeping things consistent and let Moreles make the mistakes,” said Glenwood coach Callie Ohm.  
    Ana Van Scoy held off Kelsey Roberts in the end to win the No. 1 match 9-7.  
    “Van Scoy was down 7-6, tied it up at 7-7 and then won the last two games,” said Ohm. “She did a great job adjusting to Roberts first serve and her consistent ground strokes.   All three doubles teams won.”

    The Shenandoah girls ended a 3-3 tie after the singles portion of its dual with Glenwood by winning all three doubles matches to earn a 6-3 Hawkeye 10 Conference tennis victory last Tuesday.
    Ana Van Scoy was impressive in her No. 1 singles match winning 8-4 over Mackenzie Johnson.  
    “Van Scoy has been playing great in singles and should be in good position going into districts,” said Glenwood girls coach Callie Ohm.
    Grace Newman won her No. 5 singles match over Tarynne Kinghorn 8-5 and Marley Chavez won her No. 6 singles match 8-6.
