Glenwood 4-1 at Atlantic Tourney

The Glenwood volleyball team won four of five matches at the Atlantic Volleyball Invitational Saturday.

The Rams (9-6 overall, 1-1 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) finished as co-champions with Treynor and Council Bluffs St. Albert at the tournament.Glenwood defeated Winterset 21-9, 23-21, Underwood 21-14, 21-14, Treynor 21-19, 21-14 and Atlantic 21-16, 21-7. Glenwood’s lone loss came to Council Bluffs St. Albert 10-21, 21-13, 5-15.

“I was real pleased with how we played,” said Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus. “We had some good wins against some good competition. We played well against Red Oak but we came up short. I thought we learned a lot from that match and it showed Saturday.”

The Rams’ Olivia Scarborough and Courtney Magnussen were named to the all-tournament team.

The Glenwood volleyball team suffered a 26-24, 25-14, 25-14 home setback to Red Oak last Tuesday in Hawkeye 10 Conference volleyball.

Halie Darrow and Lyndie Van Ness each recorded six kills. Courtney Magnussen finished with five kills.

Jana King had 15 set assists and Olivia Scarborough 18 digs.
