Gerald A. (Gary) Gaber, age 67, of Glenwood

Gerald A. (Gary) Gaber, age 67, of Glenwood, formerly of Omaha, died on Sept. 22, 2009, in Omaha. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Holy Rosary Church in Glenwood. Rev. Don Bruck and Rev. Mr. Ron Kohn were the officiants. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

    Mr. Gaber was born July 15, 1942, in Omaha, to Edward Charles and Bette Lee (McGinn) Gaber. He graduated from Creighton Prep High School in 1961 and attended several technical schools. He faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War in the Marines from 1961-1965. He was united in marriage to his sweetheart Katharine A. Ford on June 18, 1965, in Omaha. To this union one daughter, Deborah Ann was born.

    He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. His employment was with Quest as a manager power maintenance engineer. He enjoyed riding horses and loved country living. He would tell his wife he was going out to see his girls, referring, of course, to the horses. He enjoyed sharing his love of the farm and nature with his grandsons and dearly cherished the time they were able to spend together. His wife and family meant the world to him.

    Preceding Gary in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife Katharine Gaber; daughter, Deborah Ann and husband Michael John Koperski, Jr. of Glenwood; two grandsons; and a host of friends.

    Memorials may be made to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Glenwood. Peterson Mortuary of Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
