Fillies’ attack too much for Glenwood

Shenandoah pounded down a season-high 52 kills in a 21-25, 25-18, 24-26, 13-25 victory over Glenwood in Hawkeye 10 Conference volleyball action last Tuesday.

Glenwood (9-7 overall, 1-2 in the conference), who lost middle blocker Kali Mumm just five minutes before the start of when she suffered an injury, was forced to play with a juggled lineup. The Rams never seemed to recover or find their rhythm.

“We lost Kali and we had to change up everything we do,” said Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus. “That really put us out of position and we lost one of our better blockers.”

After splitting the first two games and dropping a close third game, 26-24, Jacobus said her team ran out of gas in game four.

“Losing that third one so close like we did, it took some wind out of us,” she said. “But we fought hard and didn’t give in. We have a talented team and we showed we can adjust (to playing without Mumm).”

The Fillies recorded a season high 52 kills in the match, led by Sydney Nielsen’s 21.
